Entrepreneurs often start developing a business plan without testing whether their ideas really reflect a market opportunity or if the initially-chosen model makes sense. This program is therefore specifically designed to help participants answer these questions and thereby define or refine their business models.

Target audience

  1. Entrepreneurs with social business ideas, together with their business partners or managers
  2. Leaders of inclusive businesses, social businesses or businesses targeting the “base of the pyramid”
  3. Entrepreneurs who would like to turn their ideas into social businesses
  4. Age range of 18 to 40

Objectives

Creatively deconstruct the participant’s business proposition to ensure that:

  1. the business responds to an actual market opportunity that also solves a social problem, and
  2. the business is connected to the entrepreneur’s passions and talents.

Build a viable business model, identifying the best possible opportunity and clearly defining the value proposition

Methodology

  • Introduction to Social Business
This module is conducted before program enrollment, and targets applicants shortlisted for the course. The objective is to introduce the social business field and Artemisia programs.

  • Best Practices for Social Business
This module is specifically designed to allow participants to know each other, understand Artemisia and its programs, and dive into the theme of social business.

  • Business Model Deconstruction
This module focuses on connecting the individual project to market opportunities and society’s needs. Each participant will gain a better understanding of the different stages of his/her initiative and will assess its chances of success. An analysis of whether the business responds to a real market opportunity will also be conducted.

  • Community-Based Market Survey
This hands-on module allows participants to experience the reality of low-income communities, helping them identify actual demands, and create products and/or services to meet them.

  • Value Proposition Development
With support from experienced professionals and experts, participants will refine the value proposition of their social business to increase its viability and effectiveness.

“The Business Model Deconstruction module was an unforgettable, life-changing experience. Focusing on the entrepreneur as a human being is critical for ensuring business success, particularly for social businesses. I believe these steps were essential to aligning my dreams with my professional plans”.
Daniel Contrucci, entrepreneur and founding partner of AOKA
“We were able to perceive the archetypical impulses that drive the development of a social business from its economic and idealistic origins. . We perceived organizations as living organisms, conscious and evolving in line with the environment in which they exist. Applying this perception to the entrepreneur’s personal background allowed us to gain new perspectives and learn from the process”.
